Graduate Students Presented at National Conference |

Four graduate students presented at the Annual Meeting of the Association of American Geographers (AAG), Las Vegas, March 22-27, 2009. Erika Espeland gave a paper presentation on Monitoring Land Cover Change in Montane Tropical Forests in Peru Using Landsat Imagery. Ray Johnson presented his research on Object Oriented Classification Differentiating Plantation From Natural Growth Pine Forests. Kenny Robertson showcased his project on GIS Development for Small Business Solutions: A Look at Detroit's Eastern Market. Matt Patton put forward a poster showing the NCAA Division II Baseball Recruiting Areas 2003-2007. They all felt learning a lot and had a great time at the conference. CMU's Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP), the College of Science and Technology, and the Department of Geography provided financial supports for the students to attend this important professional event.
